Mike Pompeo has arrived in Senegal on his first journey to Africa as US secretary of state.
He’s anticipated to debate safety and financial cooperation with President Macky Sall.
Forward of his go to, he warned African states towards China’s affect within the continent, saying Chinese language funding “feeds corruption and undermines the rule of legislation”.
There was a current spike in funding in African manufacturing by Chinese language companies trying to escape US tariffs on Chinese language items.
And, as Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque explains from Dakar, Senegal, not everybody agrees with Pompeo.
